| Mountains of Bromo |
Mount Bromo located in the area of National Park Bromo Tengger Semeru which is extended around four cities in East Java Province, those are Probolinggo, Malang, Pasuruan, and Lumajang. To reach Mount Bromo you can take overland from Probolinggo to Cemoro Lawang, so from Cemoro Lawang, you can hire Hardtop to go to Penanjakan to explore seas of sand and the crater of Mount Bromo. This mount was popular with the very-very beautiful sunrise view, usually, the tourist must climb early morning to the top of mount Bromo only for enjoy the beautiful moment of sunrise between the mount and active crater of Bromo, the perfect place to enjoy sunrise is in the Penanjakan. If you’re lucky, when you get down of the mount, you also can see rainbow extended above seas of sand between cliffs which is surround that area. In addition to enjoying the sunrise moment from the Penanjakan, you can also enjoy the views of the district of Mount Bromo, Mount Batok and Mount Semeru, seas of land and the wide caldera and the hill of Teletubbies and “Pure Poten” which is located at central of seas of sand, this place usually used for religious ceremonies by the people of Tengger.
The district of Bromo mountains inhabited by people of Tengger, they are Hindu adherents. Once a year at the night 14th of month Kasada, they hold annually ceremonial called Yadna Kasada, this ceremony held in order to ask Sang Hyang Widi for their safety and blessing. Peoples of Tengger gather in the mouth of the crater of Bromo carrying every kind of offerings and then they throw it to the crater of Bromo. This ceremony actually becomes an interesting moment and many tourists usually wait for this moment to capture. If you want to stay in Bromo for little long time and live with the people of Tengger and to enjoy the landscape and the daily activities of Bromo’s people, you can take rent people house around Cemoro Lawang and Ngadisari village.

| Madakaripura waterfall |
Not too far from the slope of Bromo, we can find a historic waterfall of Madakaripura, this is the hermitage place of the prime minister of Majapahit kingdom Gajah Mada. Waterfall of Madakaripura can be reached about 45 minutes from Bromo’s district. When you arrive at the main gate of this waterfall area, you must walk about 15 minutes again so you can enjoy the waterfall, in my opinion, this is the highest waterfall in East of Java or even in Indonesia. I suggest you use mountaineering boots because the area of this waterfall is wet and slippery. When you turn left and right you can see mosses coverage the walls of the cliff, the blast of wind contained water resulted by the spark of the waterfall made it grow and turn green the cliffs. In this place, your eyes will enjoy the beautiful landscape of rocks and great waterfall, and if the weather is good you’ll find a rainbow between those cliffs.
