Ijen Crater, Alas Purwo, Sukamade – Meru Betiri, Bromo and Madakaripura waterfall, is the best tour in East Java. Day 1 – Surabaya – Ijen Crater via Bondowoso

We will take you from your hotel di Surabaya on 9 am, then we will drive to Bondowoso regency to the hotel at the foot of Mount Ijen, this will takes approximately 6 hours, check in to the hotel and then break. If we have enough time in the afternoon we will visit Belawan waterfalls, the location of the waterfall nearby the hotel, back to the hotel and take a rest. Dinner will be served at the hotel.

Day 2 – Explore Ijen Crater – The Amazing Blue Fire

The Ijen Crater tour to visit The Blue Flame will start on 12 pm in the midnight, from the hotel we will drive approximately 30 minutes to Paltuding, this is the first post-Mount Ijen, from here we will trek the crater of Ijen this will takes approximately 1.5 hours trekking until we arrive the crater. The Blue flame phenomena can only be enjoyed in the night while in the daylight we can not enjoy it because the sun shines make it invisible to be watched. During the climbing we will also meet with the local sulfur miner, they carry sulfurs from the crater of Ijen to its foot by the bamboo basket, they did it every day as their livelihood. When the sun raised we will get down to Paltuding and then break. Around 9 am we will drive to Alas Purwo National Park, this will takes approximately 2 hours until we arrive in the locals village nearby the National Park, we will overnight at the homestay provided by locals in this village, there is now lodging accommodation nearby Alas Purwo National Park except for the homestay at the locals village. In Afternoon we will visit locals farmland to enjoy a fresh orange fruit, you can pluck it as you want to eat this fruit, then back to the homestay and rest. Dinner will be served by local people at the homestay. Overnight.

Day 3 – Explore Alas Purwo National Park

There are many interesting places inside Alas Purwo National Park and we will visit and enjoy all of those places. We will begin the tour early morning after having breakfast, first, we will visit Bedul Beach, after crossing the small strait to the forest part of the National Park, a 4WD vehicle will take us to explore the National Park, the first spot to be enjoyed is Ngagelan turtles beach conservation, here we will get to know hos the turtles are conserved, next we will visit Pura Giri Salaka temple, the old temple used by Hindu peoples to worship, once a year they will come here and celebrate a holy days for Hindu peoples. Next we will visit Pancur beach, from here we will trek to Istana cave for along 1 km, enjoy this mystic cave and then back to Pancur beach, we will continue the exploration to visit Plengkung beach, one of the best surfing beaches in Indonesia, Next we will visit Sadengan the natural savanna inside Alas Purwo National Park, here we will find a wild animals like Java Bull, peacock, wild pig, deer and many others wild animals, When it is all done we will back to Bedul beach and finish the entire exploration of Alas Purwo National Park. Back to the homestay and then rest. Overnight.

Day 4 – Banyuwangi – Meru Betiri National Park

After having breakfast we will drive to Meru Betiri National Park, this will take approximately 3-4 hours throughout the rocky and hilly road, crossing several rivers by the car, during the trip we will stop Rajegwesi fisherman village, we will also stop to enjoy the Green Bay beach. On the noon we will arrive at the Guest House provided by the National Park Management at Sukamade beach and then break. Late lunch will be served here. After having dinner we will start the exploration to find turtles laying the eggs on the Sukamade beach, this activity could last along the night according to the situation, a ranger will guide during this exploration. When it is all done we will back to the guest house and rest.

Day 5 – Banyuwangi – Bromo

Early morning we will begin the day by releasing the turtle’s babies to the ocean in Sukamade beach, those babies are incubated for along 40-50 days and then they will be released to the ocean a view days after hatching. Most of the turtle’s babies will not survive to the adulthood because hunted by its natural predator, and those who survive will get back to this beach sometime later to lay their eggs. Releasing the babies of the turtles is very interesting activity and we can record it the moment. Then back to the guest house, breakfast and check out. From here we will start the trip to Bromo. This will takes approximately total 7 hours until we arrive at Bromo around 8-9 pm. Then overnight in the hotel at the foot of Mt. Bromo.

Day 6 – Explore Bromo

The Bromo tour will start on 2 am, the 4WD vehicle called Hardtop will pick up as from the hotel and start the exploration with this vehicle. The first spot we’ll visit at Bromo is enjoying the wonderful sunrise from Mount Penanjakan, this is the best places to enjoy the spectacular sunrise of Bromo with layered mount as background, after the sun raised we will get down to the sea of sands and trek to the crater of Bromo, the trekking activity will take around 1 hours until we finish it and back to the parking area at the sea of sands, next we will visit the Savannah of Bromo which is popular by its label “Teletubbis hill”, the last we will visit the whispering sands this is the part of sea of sands of Bromo which become like a small desert in the area. We will finish the exploration of Bromo around 10 am and then back to the hotel for having lunch and break.

On 12 am we will get down from Bromo and drive around 40 minutes to visit Madakaripura waterfall, this is a wonderful waterfall which still has a relation to Gajahmada the great prime minister of ancient Majapahit empire around the 14th century. Upon arrival to the main gate of the waterfall, we will walk down along the bank of the river and sometimes cross the river to reach the waterfall, this is stunning 5 waterfalls line up on the high cliff. Around 3 pm we will complete the tour and then back to Surabaya, the trip will take approximately 3 hours, we will arrive at Surabaya the latest 7 pm, then transfer you to the hotel in Surabaya, break and rest.

Day 7 – Surabaya – The end of the tour

We will pick up you from the hotel on 8 am early morning then transfer you to Juanda Surabaya International Airport.

Beberapa tempat menarik di Taman Nasional Meru Betiri seperti Kampung Nelayan Rajegwesi, Teluk Hijau, dan tentu saja Pantai Sukamade untuk menyaksikan penyu bertelur di malam hari. Day 1 – Surabaya – Kawah Ijen via Bondowoso

Kami akan menjemput Anda dari hotel di Surabaya jam 09.00 pagi, selanjutnya kita akan menuju hotel di kaki gunung Ijen, perjalanan akan berlangsung selama kurang lebih 6 jam, check in hotel dan break. Jika kita memilki waktu yang cukup, sore hari kita akan mengunjungi Air Terjun Belawan di kaki gunung Ijen. Kembali ke hotel dan istirahat, makan malam akan disajikan di hotel.

Day 2 – Explore Ijen – Fenomena Blue Fire

Tour Kawah Ijen untuk menyaksikan fenomena Blue Fire akan dimulai pada jam 12 tengah malam, dari hotel kita akan berkendara menuju Paltuding selama kurang lebih 30 menit, ini adalah pos pertama pendakian ke Gunung Ijen, dari sini kita akan trekking menuju Kawah Ijen selama kurang lebih 1.5 jam. Blue Fire Kawah Ijen yang istimewa hanya bisa disaksikan saat malam hari, sementara di siang hari kita tidak bisa menyaksikannya karena sinar matahari membuatnya tak terlihat. Selama pendakian kita juga akan berjumpa dengan penambang belerang tradisional, mereka mengangkut belerang dari kawah Ijen ke kaki gunung Ijen setiap hari sebagai mata pencaharian, kita bisa membuka obrolan dengan mereka dan mencari tau lebih detail bagaimana mereka bekerja. Setelah matahari terbit kita akan turun dari kawah Ijen dan kembali ke Paltuding, sarapan dan break. Kurang lebih jam 9 pagi kita akan meninggalkan Kawah Ijen dan menuju desa terdekat dengan Alas Purwo, perjalanan akan berlansgung selama kurang lebih 2 jam, kita akan bermalam di Home stay di desa tersebut. Tak ada fasilitas akomodasi hotel selain Home stay tersebut di sekitar Alas Purwo. Sore hari kita akan mengunjungi kebun masyarakat local untuk mencoba buah jeruk segar, kamu bisa memetik dan menikmati buahnya sesukamu, sebelum terlampau sore kita akan kembali ke Home Stay dan istirahat, makan malam akan disediakan oleh penduduk lokal di Home Stay. Istirahat.

Day 3 – Explore Taman Nasional Alas Purwo

Ada banyak tempat-tempat menarik di Taman Nasional Alas Purwo dan kita akan mengunjungi beberapa tempat menarik di ataranya. Setelah sarapan lebih awal kita akan memulai penjelajahan Alas Purwo, mula-mula kita akan mengunjungi Pantai Bedul, setelah menyebrangi sebuah selat kecil dengan perahu, sebuah kendaraan 4WD akan menjemput kita untuk menjelajahi tempat-tempat menarik di Alas Purwo dengan kendaraan tersebut. Dari pantai Bedul kita akan menuju Ngagelan lokasi konservasi penyu, kita akan mencari tau bagaimana penyu-penyu dikonservasikan agar tetap lestari, selanjutnya kita akan mengunjungi Pura Luhur Giri Salaka, sebuah pura Hindu tua yang digunakan sebagai tempat ibadah mereka, setahun sekali umat Hindu datang untuk merayakan Hari Besar mereka di pura ini, dari sini kita akan menuju Pantai Pancur, setelah menikmati view pantai yang cantik ini kita akan trekking sepanjang 1 km untuk mengunjungi goa Istana yang mistik, sebelum tengah hari kita akan kembali ke pantai Pancur dan makan siang di warung. Selanjutnya kita akan mengunjungi pantai Plengkung, salah satu pantai surfing terbaik di Indonesia, setelah puas menyaksikan para peselancar beraksi kita akan melanjutkan penjelajahan untuk mengunjungi Sadengan, sebuah savanna alami di dalam Alas Purwo, di sini kita akan menjumpai Banteng Jawa yang masih liar, rusa, burung merak, babi hutan dan hewan liar lainnya, mereka semua dilestarikan di savanna ini. Dari sini kita akan kembali ke pantai Bedul dan selanjutnya menuju Home stay, kita akan tiba di home stay menjelang malam. Makan malam dan istirahat.

Day 4 – Perjalanan ke Taman Nasional Meru Betiri

Setelah sarapan pagi kita akan berkendara menuju Taman Nasional Meru Betiri, perjalanan akan berlansgung kurang lebih 3-4 jam melewati jalanan pegunungan yang berbatu, kita juga akan menyebrangi beberapa sungai dengan kendaraan. Spot pertama yang akan kita kunjungi adalah Kampung Nelayan Rajegwesi, kita juga akan behenti untuk mengunjungi Teluk Hijau, sebuah pantai yang masih alami, berpasir putih, bersih dengan air yang jernih. Menjelang sore kita akan tiba di Sukamade, di sini terdapat guest house bagi wisatawan, kita akan bermalam di guest house ini. Setelah makan malam kita akan memulai penjelajahan untuk menemukan penyu yang sedang bertelur di pantai Sukamade, aktivitas ini bisa berlangsung sepanjang malam tergantung keberuntungan, selama penjelajahan seorang ranger akan memandu kita dan memberikan instruksi yang diperlukan agar aktivitas ini berlangsung lancar. Saat semua selesai kita akan kembali ke guest house dan istirahat.

Day 5 – Taman Nasional Meru Betiri – Perjalanan ke Bromo

Kita akan memulai pagi hari ini dengan melepas tukik atau bayi penyu ke laut lepas di pantai Sukamade, bayi-bayi ini diinkubasi selama kurang lebih 40-50 hari, setelah itu mereka akan dilepas ke laut beberapa hari setelah menetas. Sebagian besar dari bayi penyu tersebut tak akan bertahan sampai dewasa karena diburu oleh predatour alaminya, dan sebagian kecil yang survive tersebut akan kembali ke pantai ini suatu ketika kelak dan bertelur lagi. Melapas bayi-bayi penyu ke laut lepas adalah aktivitas yang sangat berkesan kita juga bisa merekam moment-moment saat bayi-bayi penyu tersebut berlari menuju laut lepas dan menyambut hidup baru mereka di alam bebas. Kembali ke guest house dan sarapan pagi, selanjutnya check out dan setelah itu kita akan menuju Bromo, perjalanan akan berlangsung selama kurang lebih 7-8 jam sampai kita tiba di Bromo kurang antara jam 8-9 malam. Kita akan bermalam di hotel di kaki gunung Bromo.

Day 6 – Jelajahi Eksotisme Bromo

Tour Bromo akan dimulai pada jam 2 pagi, sebuah kendaraan 4WD yang disebut Hardtop akan menjemput kita di hotel, dengan kendaraan tersebut kita akan menjelajahi Bromo. Spot pertama yang akan kita kunjungi di Bromo adalah menyaksikan sunrise Bromo yang spektakuler dari Gunung Penanjakan, ini adalah tempat terbaik untuk menyaksikan sunrise Bromo dengan background beberapa gunung berlapis-lapis seperti lukisan alam, setelah matahari terbit kita akan turun ke Lautan Pasir dan trekking menuju Kawah Bromo selama kurang lebih 1 jam sampai selesai, selanjutnya kita akan mengunjungi Savanna Bromo atau yang populer dengan sebutan “Bukit Teletubbies”, terakhir kita akan mengunjungi Pasir Berbisik, ini adalah bagian dari lautan pasir Bromo yang menyerupai gurun mini. Kita akan menyelesaikan penjelajahan Bromo kurang lebih jam 10 pagi dan kembali ke hotel untuk break dan makan siang.

Jam 12 siang kita akan turun dari hotel di kaki gunung Bromo dan berkendara selama kurang lebih 40 menit untuk mengunjungi Air Terjun Madakaripura, sebuah air terjun nan menawan yang menyimpan mitos hubungan dengan Gajahmada, seorang Mahapatih tersukses dari imperium Majapahit pada abad 14. Setelah tiba di pintu gerbang air terjun kita akan berjalan kaki selama kurang lebih 30 menit di sepanjang tepi sungai dan sesekali menyebrangi sungai. Sebuah air terjun yang memukau menanti Anda, terdapat 5 air terjun berjejer di antara tebing tinggi, kit akan memiliki cukup wkatu untuk menikmati air terjun tersebut. Kurang lebih jam 3 sore kita akan meninggalkan air terjun Madakaripura dan kembali ke Surabaya, perjalanan akan berlangsung selama kurang lebih 3 jam, kita akan tiba di Surabaya paling lambat jam 7 malam. Selanjutnya kami akan mengantar Anda menuju hotel dan istirahat.

Day 7 – Surabaya – The end of the tour

Have you seen turtles lay their eggs directly while in the wild? It is an rarely found experience, but you can watch it directly on the Sukamade beach, located inside Meru National Park Betiri.
Meru Betirin National Park (TNBT) is located on the south coast of East Java that is included in the two districts namely Jember and Banyuwangi in the east end with an area of 50,000 hectares. The name refered to the highest mountain inside national Park (Meru) Betiri (1,223 m).
Besides being able to see the five species of sea turtles are often visited this beach, we still can find Java tiger (reportedly). It also can be seen buffalo, leopard, deer, and various types of monkeys, peacocks, various eagles and hornbills. In addition, the flora here include Rafflesia zollingeriona and Balanphora fungosa. Beautiful landscape with charming beaches can be found in Green Bay. For those who are not satisfied with the adventure of watching turtles lay eggs can perform other activities, among others, exploring the woods around Bandealit and Mt. Gendong. You can also do rock climbing and rope climbing down a cliff in Bandealit coast.

There are 4 types of 6 species of sea turtles in Indonesia that usualy landing and laying on Sukamade beach, the Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas), Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), Slengkrah Turtle (Lepidochelys olivaceae), and the leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriaceae) . Among the turtles are the most frequently landed were green turtles.

Another tourist attraction in Sukamade is the coastal mangrove forests located on the east coast estuary of Sukamade beach, the river can be used for canoeing while doing bird watching. Birds such as Roko Roko, sea eagles, terns and many more sea birds that can be observed. Bird watching is usually done while waiting for sunset.

Line-Ambulu Jember-Curahnongko-Bandealit (Meru Betiri Gateway of the West) at about 64 km can be reached in about 1.5-2 hours with vehicle two-wheeled or four.
Line-Glenmor Jember-Sarongan-Sukamade (Meru Betiri Gateway of the East) along the 103 km can be reached within 3.5-4 hours with vehicle two-wheeled or four.
Line-Jember- Geneng – Jajag -Pesanggaran -Sarongan-Sukamade with a long 109 km can be reached within 3.5 – 4 hours with vehicle two-wheeled or four.
Line-Banyuwangi-Jajag Pesanggaran-Sarongan-Sukamade along 137 km can be reached within 5 minutes by motor vehicle

Pernahkah kamu melihat penyu secara langsung saat bertelur di alam bebas? Ini adalah pengamalam yang jarang ditemukan, tetapi kamu bisa menyaksikannya langsung di pantai Sukamade yang terletak di dalam kawasan Taman Nasional Meru Betiri.

Taman Nasional Meru Betiri (TNMB) terletak di pantai selatan Jawa Timur yaitu masuk dalam dua kabupaten yakni Jember dan ujung timurnya di Banyuwangi dengan luas mencapai 50.000 hektare. Namanya diambil dari gunung tertinggi yang terdapat di dalamnya Gunung (meru) Betiri (1.223 m).

Selain dapat melihat lima jenis penyu yang kerap menyambangi pantai ini, di sana juga masih ada harimau Jawa (kabarnya). Selain itu juga bisa disaksikan banteng, macan tutul, kijang, dan berbagai jenis monyet. Dari jenis burung terdapat burung merak, berbagai elang dan rangkong. Selain itu, flora di sini mencakup Rafflesia zollingeriona dan Balanphora fungosa. Pemandangan indah dengan pantai menawan bisa ditemukan di Teluk Hijau. Bagi yang tidak puas dengan petualangan menyaksikan penyu bertelur dapat melakukan kegiatan lain, diantaranya. menjelajah hutan di seputar Bandealit dan Gunung Gendong. Juga bisa panjat tebing dan meniti tali turun tebing di tebing pantai Bandealit.

Kawasan ini dilestarikan dalam bentuk kawasan lindung sejak 1972. Hingga tahun 1979 telur penyu di Sukamade masih diburu oleh para pengumpulnya. Namun, sekarang pengumpulan, pemindahan anakan, dan penangkapan penyu dilarang keras, karena Penyu hijau termasuk satwa yang dilindungi. Menurut laporan penelitian WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), Penyu hijau yang paling umum bersarang di Sukamade. Dan dari data kadang ada ada beberapa jenis yang absen bertelur selama beberapa tahun, namun kemudian kembali lagi.

Penyu akan menghindar pantai jika saat ia hendak mendarat untuk bertelur terdapat sorotan lampu. Ini sebabnya mengapa ditetapkan jarak yang jauh untuk mendekati pantai Sukamade yaitu dengan cara berjalan kaki. Bagi pemilik mobil jenis sedan, sebaiknya tidak usah melakukan penjelajahan di rimba Meru Betiri hingga Pantai Sukamade, karena setelah masuk pintu pos Meru Betiri, jalan tak lagi beraspal. Bukan lagi jalan makadam, tapi jalan penuh bebatuan runcing. Bahkan, untuk sampai ke Pantai Sukamade, mobil wisatawan akan melewati tujuh anak sungai yang airnya setinggi lutut orang dewasa, belum lagi kalau musim hujan bisa sampai setinggi mobil jeep.

Penyu yang biasa mendarat dan bertelur di pantai Sukamade ada 4 jenis dari 6 jenis penyu yang ada di Indonesia, yaitu Penyu Hijau (Chelonia mydas), Penyu Sisik (Eretmochelys imbricata), Penyu Slengkrah (Lepidochelys olivaceae), dan Penyu Belimbing (Dermochelys coriaceae). Diantara penyu-penyu tersebut yang paling sering mendarat adalah penyu hijau.

Fasilitas yang terdapat di lokasi ini antara lain: Pondok Wisata, Camping Ground yang dilengkapi dengan pendopo untuk ruang pertemuan, Shelter, jalan trail wisata, information centre, laboratorium dan pondok kerja.

Obyek wisata lain yang ada di pantai sukamade adalah Hutan mangrove yang terletak di muara timur pantai Sukamade. Sungainya dapat dipakai untuk berkano sambil melakukan pengamatan burung. Burung-burung tersebut diantaranya burung Roko-Roko, Elang laut, Dara Laut dan masih banyak lagi burung burung yang dapat diamati. Pengamatan burung tersebut biasanya dilakukan sambil menunggu matahari terbenam.

Menuju kawasan Taman Nasional Meru Betiri dapat dicapai melalui 4 jalur jalan darat baik dari Jember maupun dari Banyuwangi yaitu :

Jalur Jember-Ambulu-Curahnongko-Bandealit (Pintu Gerbang ke Meru Betiri bagian Barat) sepanjang 64 km dapat ditempuh dalam waktu sekitar 1,5-2 jam dengan kendaraan roda dua maupun roda empat.
Jalur Jember-Glenmor-Sarongan-Sukamade (Pintu Gerbang ke Meru Betiri bagian Timur) sepanjang 103 km dapat ditempuh dalam waktu 3,5-4 jam dengan kendaraan roda dua maupun roda empat.
Jalur Jember-Genteng-Jajag-Pesanggaran-Saro-ngan-Sukamade se-panjang 109 km dapat ditempuh dalam waktu 3,5 – 4 jam dengan kendaraan roda dua maupun roda empat.
Jalur Banyuwangi-Jajag-Pesanggaran-Sarongan-Sukamade sepanjang 137 Km dapat ditempuh dalam waktu 5 jam dengan kendaraan bermotor

Mt Bromo

After a fun activity observing turtle laying eggs on a full moon night and release the babies turtle at Sukamade beach, five of us (Alan Yeo Yuan Lun, Loh Ee Chong, Hu Enwei and Ong Peng Kiat and me) will continue the journey to Mount Bromo via Probolinggo, we stopped at the home of a friend in Banyuwangi for a short break and wash our face and replace vehicles that we use. From Banyuwangi to Probolinggo, we can use one of two alternate paths, via Jember or via Situbondo, our friend suggested us to use Situbondo route by consideration of road conditions much comfortable and flat, after completing affairs, we begin the journey to Mount Bromo in Probolinggo, this trip is going to last for about 6-7 hours, throughout the course my friends spend the time with playing cards in the back of the car and chatted some topics that I did not understand, because I do not understand their language. We occasionally stopped at the mini market to buy mineral water, beer, snacks and dinner at Kraksaan – Probolinggo, in a shop serving seafood dishes.

I was offered a beer by my friends for a drink together, with their innocent little faces say “we know maybe beer is banned to be a publicly distribute in Indonesia, but we want to high-five to the boss” and we had a drink together. I had thought, it might be banned, whereas now, we can buy beer in almost every mini market that can be found along the road on Java, and for myself, it’s not big deal.
