Overview

The Grand Tour of East Java is Keliling Nusantara’s executive program, organized twice a year to explore the most iconic destinations across East Java. This 10‑day journey covers heritage sites, volcanic landscapes, pristine beaches, national parks, and cultural highlights, offering travelers a complete experience of East Java’s natural and historical treasures.

From the Majapahit heritage at Trowulan and hot springs in Cangar, to the legendary Madakaripura Waterfall, sunrise at Mount Bromo, and the turquoise Ijen Crater Blue Fire, the tour combines adventure and culture. Guests will also visit Papuma Beach, Alas Purwo National Park, Baluran Savannah, Pasir Putih Beach, and end with a Surabaya City Tour, making this program the ultimate East Java exploration.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Surabaya to Trowulan & Tretes

  • 09:00 – Briefing & Introduction: Meet at Surabaya for introductions and a program overview. This session helps participants connect, understand the journey ahead, and learn the rules for a smooth trip.
  • 10:00 – Trowulan Majapahit Heritage Site: Explore the former capital of the Majapahit Kingdom, with temples, ancient baths, museums, and archaeological sites. Guides share stories of Majapahit’s golden era, making history come alive.
  • 15:00 – Transfer to Tretes Plateau: Drive to Tretes, a cool mountain resort town popular for weekend getaways. The fresh air and scenic views provide a relaxing contrast to the historical morning.
  • 18:00 – Check‑in & Dinner: Overnight at a villa in Tretes, with dinner and time to rest before the next day’s adventure.

Day 2 – Sempu Island & Goa Cina Beach

  • 04:00 – Depart Tretes for Malang: Scenic drive to Sendang Biru beach, the gateway to Sempu Island.
  • 09:00 – Cross to Sempu Island: Ride a fisherman’s boat across the bay, then trek through tropical forest to reach Segoro Anakan lagoon. This hidden lagoon, connected to the sea by a coral cave, is a pristine conservation area.
  • 13:00 – Return to Sendang Biru & Lunch: Rest and enjoy local meals before continuing.

Day 3 – Cangar Hot Springs & Madakaripura Waterfall

  • 06:00 – Cangar Hot Springs: Soak in natural hot springs surrounded by mountain landscapes. This is a rejuvenating stop after the previous day’s trek.
  • 12:00 – Transfer to Probolinggo: Drive toward Probolinggo for the next highlight.
  • 14:00 – Madakaripura Waterfall: Trek along riverside paths to reach this legendary waterfall, believed to be the meditation site of Gajah Mada. The towering falls and natural pools create a mystical atmosphere.
  • 19:00 – Overnight at Bromo lodge/villa: Dinner and rest at accommodation near Mount Bromo.

Day 4 – Mount Bromo Sunrise & Papuma Beach

  • 02:00 – Jeep Ride to Penanjakan Viewpoint: Travel by jeep to Penanjakan to witness the famous Bromo sunrise. The sky glows as the sun rises over Mount Semeru and Mount Batok.
  • 05:30 – Explore Bromo: Trek across the Sea of Sand to the crater rim, visit the Savannah (Teletubbies Hill), and walk through Whispering Sands. Each spot offers unique landscapes and photo opportunities.
  • 11:00 – Return to hotel for breakfast & rest.
  • 13:00 – Transfer to Jember (approx. 3 hours).

Day 5 – Papuma Sunrise & Alas Purwo National Park

  • 05:00 – Sunrise at Papuma Beach: Watch the sunrise over the ocean, with golden light reflecting off waves and rocks.
  • 08:00 – Drive to Banyuwangi (approx. 4 hours).
  • 12:00 – Bedul Beach, Alas Purwo National Park: Cross a mangrove estuary by boat, then cycle through forest paths to Ngagelan Turtle Conservation. Learn about hatchlings and conservation efforts.
  • 17:00 – Sunset cycling along shoreline: Ride along the beach, enjoying the evening light.
  • 20:00 – Overnight at Kendalrejo village homestay.

Day 6 – Explore Alas Purwo & Plengkung (G‑Land)

  • 06:00 – Full‑day exploration:
    • Pura Luhur Giri Salaka temple: Sacred Hindu temple hidden in the forest.
    • Pancur Beach: Scenic beach inside the park.
    • Istana Cave: Accessible cave with mystical atmosphere.
