Explore Ciwidey

Let’s explore Ciwidey in South Bandung, a mountainous tourist area surrounded by lush greenery and soothing landscapes. Just a short drive from the bustling city of Bandung, Ciwidey offers a refreshing escape into nature. With its cool climate, rolling tea plantations, and mystical volcanic crater, Ciwidey is often described as one of the hidden paradises of the Indonesian archipelago.

White Crater (Kawah Putih)

One of the most famous attractions in Ciwidey is the White Crater (Kawah Putih), a sulfur crater lake wrapped in myths and legends. Local people believe that spirits of ancestors dwell here, and it is said that no birds fly directly above the crater due to the strong sulfur fumes. While the scent of sulfur makes it difficult to linger too long nearby, the view from a safe distance is mesmerizing. The turquoise water against the stark white crater walls creates a surreal, otherworldly atmosphere. Visitors often enjoy a cup of bandrek, a traditional warm drink made from ginger and local spices, to chase away the chill of the highland air.

Tea Gardens & Situ Patenggang Lake

Not far from Kawah Putih lies the vast Ciwidey tea gardens, offering rolling hills covered in vibrant green tea plants. Nestled among these plantations is the beautiful Situ Patenggang Lake, a crystal‑clear body of water surrounded by hilly landscapes. Visitors can rent boats to glide across the lake, enjoying panoramic views of the tea gardens and the cool mountain breeze. This combination of tea plantations and lake scenery makes Situ Patenggang one of the most picturesque spots in South Bandung.
