Overview

Nestled along the trekking route to Mount Semeru’s Mahameru Peak (3,676 m, the highest point in Java), Ranu Kumbolo is a breathtaking 18‑hectare lake surrounded by valleys and forested hills. Its crystal‑clear waters and serene atmosphere make it one of the most enchanting spots in East Java.

For climbers, Ranu Kumbolo is more than just a resting point — it’s a natural haven where tents are pitched, meals are shared, and the sunrise over the lake creates unforgettable memories. The scenery here is both calming and inspiring, offering a perfect pause before continuing the ascent to Semeru’s summit.
