Introduction
This 3‑day tour combines two of East Java’s most spectacular destinations: the mystical Kawah Ijen, famous for its rare blue fire phenomenon and turquoise crater lake, and the exotic Baluran National Park, often called “The Little Africa in Java” for its vast savannas and diverse wildlife. Perfect for adventurers and nature lovers, this journey blends volcano trekking, wildlife safari, and coastal exploration.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Departure from Surabaya
The adventure begins with a gathering in Surabaya, where guests meet the tour guide and fellow travelers. After a briefing, the group departs by comfortable air‑conditioned vehicle. The overnight journey passes through East Java’s countryside, offering glimpses of rural life before reaching the slopes of Mount Ijen.
Day 2 – Kawah Ijen Exploration & Baluran Safari
Upon arrival at the Ijen basecamp, guests rest briefly before starting the trek. The hike to Kawah Ijen is an unforgettable experience: before dawn, the rare blue fire flickers across the crater, a phenomenon found in only a few places worldwide. As daylight breaks, the turquoise crater lake glows against the volcanic cliffs, while sulfur miners carry heavy loads, showcasing the resilience of local communities.
After breakfast, the journey continues toward Baluran National Park. Along the way, guests enjoy lunch and scenic views of East Java’s coastline. Entering Baluran, the group explores Bekol Savanna, where banteng, deer, monkeys, and peacocks roam freely. The vast grasslands, often compared to Africa, provide a true safari atmosphere.
In the late afternoon, the tour heads to Bama Beach, a calm northern coastline perfect for relaxation. Guests watch the sunset over the horizon, enjoy the tranquil atmosphere, and may even snorkel in the clear waters. Dinner is served at the park, followed by optional night wildlife observation near the beach, where nocturnal animals can sometimes be spotted.
Day 3 – Bird Watching & Return to Surabaya
The final day begins with early bird watching in designated areas of Baluran. With over 200 species recorded, including storks, peacocks, and kingfishers, this is a paradise for bird enthusiasts. Afterwards, guests can swim or snorkel at Bama Beach, exploring coral reefs and marine life.
After breakfast and time to freshen up, the group departs for Surabaya. The return journey offers time to reflect on the adventure and enjoy the passing landscapes. By evening, the tour concludes in Surabaya, leaving guests with lasting memories of Kawah Ijen’s volcanic wonders and Baluran’s savanna safari.
