Joining the batik class in Surabaya was such a rewarding experience. The local artisans welcomed us warmly and explained the history of batik before guiding us step by step through the process. Their English was basic but enough to help us understand the techniques, and their patience made the learning fun.
We got to try waxing patterns on cloth and then dyeing it with traditional colors. It was amazing to see our own designs come to life, even if they weren’t perfect! The atmosphere was relaxed, and the small group size meant we had plenty of personal attention.
The workshop gave us not only a hands-on skill but also a deeper appreciation for Indonesian culture. At the end, we could take home our batik cloth as a souvenir, which made the experience feel even more special.
Overall, this tour is a great way to spend a few hours in Surabaya—creative, cultural, and memorable.

Had a blast at the Surabaya batik class! The teacher was super friendly, showed us the basics, and let us play with colors and patterns. Fun hands-on vibe, not too serious, just creative and chill. Learned a lot, laughed a lot. Only wish the time was longer. Solid 4.5/5 – cool cultural experience!

I didn’t expect making batik to be this fun! The vibe was super relaxed, and even though my patterns weren’t perfect, the instructors made it feel easy and enjoyable. It wasn’t about being an artist, more about trying something new and soaking up the culture.

Fun Surabaya batik class! Easygoing vibe, friendly teacher, and cool hands-on experience. Loved making my own piece to take home. Not too long, just right for a cultural stop. Solid 4.5/5!

Loved the creative vibe! Playing with wax and colors was fun, and the workshop gave me a new appreciation for batik art. The atmosphere was relaxed, and everyone was helpful. Would’ve been perfect with more design options, but overall a great way to spend the day in Surabaya.
