This day tour gave me a deep appreciation for East Java’s biodiversity. From the dry savanna to the mangrove forests near Bama Beach, the park felt like multiple ecosystems in one. The air was fresh, and the scenery was stunning. It can get crowded during peak season, but the natural beauty of Baluran more than compensates.

The journey took us through diverse landscapes, from lush forests to the wide-open Bekol Savanna, often called the “Little Africa of Java.” Seeing herds of deer, wild buffalo, and exotic birds against the backdrop of Mount Baluran was breathtaking.
The highlight was Bama Beach, a serene coastal stop where we enjoyed the mangrove boardwalk and watched the waves roll in. The guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and ensured we didn’t miss any wildlife sightings.

Cool day trip! From Banyuwangi it’s not too far, and once inside Baluran you get that safari vibe. Snorkeling at Bama Beach was nice too, water’s clear and calm. Wish we had more time to hang out at the beach, but overall the combo of savanna + sea was solid.
